Adult Outpatient Services

The Adult Outpatient Department of Healthcare Commons is located in Carneys Point, along the western corridor of the county, where 80% of the population of Salem County resides. It is accessible by public transportation to the towns of Salem, Pennsville, Deepwater, Penns Grove, and Carneys Point.

The mission of the Adult Outpatient Department is to provide direct therapeutic intervention to individuals 18 years and older for the diagnosis and treatment of a mental illness. Psychiatric Evaluations are provided for adults and/or individuals under the age of 18 at the request of the court, officers of the court, or other social service agencies. The adult outpatient staff provide additional services such as community education for the broadly stated purpose of early recognition and prevention of emotional disturbance.

The Adult Outpatient Department serves the needs of individuals within a wide range of socioeconomic conditions. Services are prioritized in accordance with certain established target populations to ensure that those who are most in need receive appropriate services. These criteria for prioritization of service do not, however, preclude the provision of mental health services to all those in need.
